The short version: Vault is designed with privacy at its core. We don't collect, store, or transmit any of your data. Everything stays on your device.
Data We Collect
We don't collect any data. Vault operates entirely offline and locally on your device. Here's what that means:
- Passwords and credentials: Stored only on your device, encrypted with AES-256
- Personal information: Never collected or transmitted
- Usage analytics: None. We don't track how you use the app
- Device information: Not collected or sent anywhere
- Location data: Not accessed or collected
Data Storage
All your data is stored locally on your Android device using Android's secure storage mechanisms:
- Passwords are encrypted using AES-256 encryption before storage
- Encryption keys are stored in Android Keystore, protected by your device's security
- Data is stored in the app's private directory, inaccessible to other apps
- Biometric authentication data is handled entirely by Android's BiometricPrompt API
Data Sharing
We never share your data because we never have access to it.
Vault does not:
- Send data to any servers
- Use third-party analytics services
- Include advertising SDKs
- Share data with partners or affiliates
- Sell any user information
Export and Backup
Vault allows you to export your passwords to encrypted CSV files:
- Exports are encrypted and password-protected
- Files are saved locally on your device
- You have full control over where exports are stored
- We recommend keeping backups in secure locations
Internet Permissions
Vault does not require or use internet permissions. The app works entirely offline. If you see any network activity, it's not from Vault.
Children's Privacy
Vault does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since we don't collect any data at all, this policy applies equally to users of all ages.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Your Rights
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control:
- Access: All your data is visible within the app
- Modification: Edit any entry at any time
- Deletion: Delete individual entries or all data
- Export: Export your data in encrypted format
- Complete removal: Uninstalling the app removes all data
